AMERICAN SOFTWARE’S BOARD APPROVES QUARTERLY CASH DIVIDEND

ATLANTA, GA (December 7, 2004) – American Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMSWA) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved a quarterly dividend of $0.07 per share of American Software common stock. The Company's cash dividend is payable on March 3, 2005 to shareholders of record at the close of business on February 18, 2005.
